Course development
Keith developed the course “Introduction to Crowd Science”, over the last 30 years. During his PhD research into Crowd Dynamics he started teaching following an invite from the UK Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College (EPC) in 1999 and continued until 2014 at the EPC. During that time he was a visiting Professor at Bucks New University (High Wycombe) and developed a Foundation Degree module (Introduction to Crowd Science) and a BA (Hons) module (Applied Crowd Science). In 2014, Keith joined Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) as the Professor of Crowd Science and developed a MSc in Crowd Safety and Risk Analysis (over 90 students joined the course). That course was designed specifically for the events industry.
In 2018, Keith developed the Public Event Commanders course (PEC's) for the UK College of Policing. That course became mandatory training for all UK Public Event Commanders and is currently delivered in New South Wales (Australia) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (India).
Early in 2020, with the onset of the Covid-19 global pandemic, it became clear that the "bricks and mortar" model of University teaching programmes would need to change. Keith left MMU in May 2020 to focus on developing online course, the first of these was for theInstitute of Place Management (IPM at MMU - that course is now closed).
Our crowd safety and crowd science courses are accredited via the IIRSM and Highfield. We had over 1,000 learners registered on the system last year. If you are interested in any of these courses, contact us for details.
